The first annual City Manager?s 5K Walk & Run, now affectionally referred to as the CM5K, was organized by the City of San Antonio?s newly developed Wellness Division in 2007 to encourage healthy activity among employees and their families. Hosted at Brackenridge Park, the first CM5K brought together 561 participants who celebrated the City?s new commitment to their health and wellbeing.
Since 2007 the CM5K has grown exponentially, moving from an event focused solely on City employees to one open to the community and attracting thousands of participants each year. The event eventually outgrew its original venue due to a lack of parking in the area and moved to Sea World of San Antonio through 2016, Alamo Plaza in 2017, Roosevelt Park in 2019, and then online in 2021 due to the pandemic. After a successful return ?back to the Brack(enridge Park)? by way of the San Antonio Zoo and record participation numbers in 2022 and 2024, the event will return to SeaWord San Antonio in 2025 for this year?s 15th Annual CM5K Walk & Run.
