September is National Hispanic Heritage Month, and House of Neighborly Service is gearing up to increase awareness of the growing needs of our Westside community while embracing our Hispanic culture every step of the way.
Our team is excited to announce the 3rd Annual La Casita del Barrio 1K/5K Walk/ Run that will take place at Our Lady of the Lake University on September 27, 2025.
For the last 108 years, House of Neighborly Service has been providing opportunities that encourage, educate, and empower the families of our Westside community. Together, we can continue to tackle the most tenacious challenges our neighbors face, such as poverty, access to early childhood education, and hunger.
- Locally, 1 in 3 seniors will be affected by food insecurity.
- Locally, 1 in 5 children do not have access to quality early childhood intervention programs.
- Bexar County has the HIGHEST rates of impoverished communities, the highest being on the Westside of San Antonio
