The South Padre Island Triathlon is a wonderful course at a great venue for the seasoned veteran or the first timer. With offer both Olympic and Sprint distance courses, there’s bound to be something for everyone! This race will also be the site of the Texas State Championships.
After a terrific open water swim, the athletes will head into the transition, graciously hosted by Jim's Pier and head north for the bike course up the South Padre Island strip. Olympic participants will do two bike loops!
After the scenic bike course, participants will complete a run course a loop (Olympic will be two loops) that includes Gulf Blvd and Laguna Blvd and back to Jim's Pier. The transition area location is located in the Jim's Pier parking lot and is spectator-friendly.
There are cut-off times for each leg of the triathlon for the athletes' safety. All swimmers must be out of the water by 8:30 AM. All cyclists must be off the bike course by 10:15 AM and all competitors must be off the race course by 11:30 AM, or 4 hours after the last swimmer enters the water.
