Our Mission: Assisting the struggling with basic needs, improving quality of life.
Our Purpose: A centralized, coordinated organization serving those lacking life's immediate necessities, providing assistance and guidance toward a better life.
Our Vision: Doing much more than helping people live day-to-day; providing families and individuals with the tools and resources necessary to empower them to move toward more productive and responsible living.
Who We Are: An ecumenical alliance of Bulverde-area churches was formed May 9, 1991 with the vision that "Together we can serve more people more efficiently and with more impact than we can individually”. The churches saw the tremendous need for a community service organization to help those struggling in the community with emergency assistance for food, clothing, utilities, and other needs during personal crises. Working together, they saw that this need was growing proportionately to the population growth in the Bulverde area (Western Comal and Northern Bexar Counties). The churches formed Bulverde/Spring Branch Community Service, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency, in June of 1995 with a board of directors and a staff of volunteers assembled from each of the supporting churches. These congregations have provided donations of food, clothing, household items, services, and money that has allowed us to provide immediate assistance to clients, especially while government agencies and other organizations work through “red tape” to provide more long-term aid. We became a United Way agency shortly after incorporation, and continue to be the only United Way-sponsored agency of this type in the western part of Comal County. We also quickly became a member of the San Antonio Food Bank network and are recognized by them for going above and beyond what is provided by most members. Effective November 2007, we changed our name to "Bulverde Food Pantry, Inc." to eliminate name confusion with other similar sounding Bulverde-area organizations.
